Hey there! My name is Colleen, and I'm a freshman at Haverford College. I'm originally from California; I was born in Los Angeles and have spent most of my life in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I'm planning on being a math major at Haverford, but also have strong interests in Spanish and music. I've been playing piano for 12 years and sang alto in a community choir for 6 years. I'm continuing my piano study here at Haverford and was in Chorale last semester.

The summer after my junior year in high school I spent 6 weeks living in a rural community in Honduras, through a program called AMIGOS de las Americas. My two partners and I lived with families and worked with the community to implement projects at the school. I formed amazing friendships with my host family, improved my Spanish, and had the pleasure of being fully immersed in a foreign culture. It was a great experience, and I hope to return to Latin America at some point in my college career.

Computing

This semester I am taking World of Computing in order to become more comfortable with my general computer skills. I love working in PaintShop Pro and Photoshop and often use one of these programs to create graphics or edit digital photography. I have some basic knowledge in HTML and CSS, which I use at my job in Special Collections to make online exhibits and other web pages. I would love to become more proficient in video editing and programming.

Free time

In my free time I love to spend time with my friends. Sometimes we go into Philadelphia on the weekends, but mostly we just stay on campus, watching movies, going to shows in Lunt basement, attending other campus events, or just hanging out in the dorm.

Also, when I don't have class, I spend a lot of time listening to music and surfing the internet. I mostly listen to hardcore punk but also enjoy metal, electronica, pop-punk, world music, reggaeton, bachata, classical (especially Chopin!), and showtunes. My best friend Anna and I have a show on WHRC college radio Thursday nights. We play metal and hardcore on our show and have a great time doing it, even when no one is listening!
