~ Discussion of Honor Council Retreat, which was held Oct 4^th-5^th

-Jesse I-B confirmed the general feeling that it was beneficial to have an

overnight retreat.

-Everyone enjoyed the hotel we stayed at and found the trainings worthwhile.

The trainings were:

-Mock trial in the hotel

-Diversity training…thanks to Dave Snyder!

-Consensus training…thanks to Louise Tritton

-Panel of former chairs who provided words of wisdom…

thanks to Rachel Werner, Andrew Peterson, and Mary Green.

         ~ Discussion of the Honor Council website

-Laura and Abby have been in contact with Chris Kingsley and will be trained in

how to update the website this week.

-Miriam and Liz suggested the possibility of a discussion forum on GO. Everyone

liked the idea, so we will try to implement that soon.

-Jeremy suggested a link to old abstracts on GO. We’ll try to get that up soon.

         ~Discussion of Honor Codes at other colleges

                  -Liz and Miriam mentioned that they had been contacted by Amherst, Williams,

                        and Wesleyan regarding the Honor Code at Haverford. These colleges are

                        interested in having some type of dialogue with Haverford students about the

                        Honor Code here and why it does/doesn’t work. They are all interested, to

                        some extent, in modeling codes at their schools after our code. Council

                        members will be in touch with them.

         ~Subcommittees

                  -Community Outreach (chair: Laura; members: Abby, Andrew, Jesse I-B, Emily,

                        Chloe, Nick, Elif) will meet this week on Wed. at 6:00 over dinner in the

                        Sunken Lounge. Community Members are welcome!!!

-Faculty Outreach (chair: Oleg ; Jeremy, Caitlin, Jesse M-H, Anirudh, Curt) had

a meeting after our meeting, but welcomes community input.

-Caitlin will meet with JSAAPP next week.

~Our weekly meetings are held on Sundays in the Pendle Hill Room at 5:00pm.
