Jane Campbell Scrapbook v.14

The oldest insurance company in the world at the time built the Land Title and Trust building in 1897. The Chicago architectural firm D. H. Burnham and Company was the first non-Philadelphian to build a major building in the city. The classical styled building incorporated a simple steel frame. The speculatively built office space included marble and wooden floors. In 1964 Vincent King and Associates made ground floor, third through sixth, and twelfth alterations.
In 1917 the Land Title and Trust Company owned this 100 x 89 stone and iron terracotta 15 floor building valued at 2,300,000. This proved to be extremely high end quality office use real estate.( http://www.philadelphiabuildings.org, Teitelman, Marone, Assessed Values of Real Estate)
