About Lighted Fools
Formally recognized in 1991, Lighted Fools began as an avant-garde theater troupe performing Shakespearian soliloquies and short, original scenes. To the surprise of many, this scraggly group of Bryn Mawr and Haverford College theatrical misfits quickly became an unlikely bi-campus-wide hit, playing to packed audiences in Stokes auditorium. After several moderately successful shows at local high schools promoting HIV/AIDS awareness, the Fools began to transition into the more comedy-centered sketch/improv format they are now known for.
Performing all original sketches and state-of-the-Art improv, Lighted Fools proudly serve the Haverford and Bryn Mawr communities heaping loads of the satirical, weird, and zany in the hopes that, somehow, in some way, it will bring us all a little closer to truth, meaning, and collective-actualization.
By recent estimates Lighted Fools have written and performed well over 500 sketches. Lighted Fools are also proudly apart of the burgeoning Philly Improv scene and have performed at the Dirty South Improv Festival, Skidmore College Comedy Festival, Oberlin College Improv Conference, Delaware Improv and Sketch O'Festival, and (Name of UMass festival).
Lighted Fools Alumni have also gone on to perform in New York at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, Magnet Theater, and Chicago City Limits, in Chicago at the Improv Olympic, and Los Angeles at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater (LA).
