II. Housing Committee

Jeremy Prober gave a general introduction of the housing committee. Housing committee is reviewing the current housing draw process.

Joe proposes an amendment to the new housing proposal for a separation of room draw strategies for up campus and apartment housing.

SC Discussion on the New Housing Policy

Jaime points out that the housing people are experts on this and we should trust them.

Scott responds by saying that at the same time, the housing committee is small and driven by the experiences of a few people.

Ilya says that the Housing Committee consensus on the plan was hesitant.

Amina reinforces the idea of just using the plan for up campus.

Scott says that this new policy will probably not solve the “heartache” involved with the room draw.

Jeremy notes that this isn’t going to solve the real problem on campus, which is that of poor housing.

Samir says this plan hurts people in the apartments.

Jeremy says 12 people applying at once? How many 12-person groups of friends are there on this campus? Also, both systems will suck, but at least people will understand the old policy.

Joe suggests delaying approval until next year after a statistical study is done.
